Pony motors for the D4600/D318 CAT aren't cheap to fix, but everything is still available from CAT, aftermarket or used. As crazy as it sounds, they seem to work just fine. The grader engines have a special oil pump which pushes engine oil forward into the clutch with the oil returning to the engine by overflowing and being picked up by the flywheel. Interesting thing about all these machines and the oil clutch is that it shares the engine oil unlike the oil clutch tractors of the same era which had a separate oil resevoir and oil pump in the clutch housing.

The last of the 8T graders has oil clutches and after 1955, there were several other series #12's produced with oil clutches including 80C, 70D and 71D up until the 12E came out and replaced them all in 1959-60. the dry clutch is a dual disk foot clutch, not an over-center hand clutch like the tractors used.
